Bolaños de Calatrava

A town located in the Calatrava volcanic field, Bolaños de Calatrava is a must-see on the route between Las Tablas de Daimiel and Almagro.

In its urban complex, the Casa de Coca stands out, from the 17th century and in the Baroque style. As for its religious buildings, the Hermitage of Santo Cristo de la Columna and the church of San Felipe and Santiago, located in the Plaza de España, are clear examples of the transition from Gothic to Renaissance.

Campo de Criptana

The most characteristic image of Campo de Criptana are the mills and the Albaicín Criptano made up of narrow streets and steep slopes, with constructions of typical La Mancha houses on one floor, whitewashed and indigo-colored plinths.

It was here, in Campo de Criptana, where Don Quixote’s most popular and famous adventure took place, his battle with the giants, which turned out to be windmills…
